“Things Black Students Say”

Sheds light on issues that Black Students face at Cal and other institutions of higher learning!

The thing that moved me most was the very first scene, when we were asked, “How would you feel if you were the only Black Student in your class?” I could well relate to that statement because in many of my English classes, I am the only Pilipina. I always feel so nervous, alone, and like a total outcast—I feel like I don’t belong at this university. There’s only 3% of me on this campus. And that’s not enough.

Which is why I’m glad I attended the Prop 209 rally this morning even though I only stayed for a bit. If it hadn’t rained and my bones weren’t about to freeze, I would have stayed for the whole thing.

One more thing to add on why I love {m}aganda.

DREAM State: A Closer Look at the DREAM Act ↘

passadvocacy:

Major kudos to Alejandro, Gabriela, and Sean for sharing their stories and also to the Daily Californian for this special feature. There’s a lot we can learn from their stories, so please take the time to watch their interviews and read through the personal, political, and financial perspectives about the DREAM Act. I hope this feature will help others become more educated and aware about AB540 issues, and that it will help us move forward to becoming a more open-minded, inclusive, and just society.

Because the DREAM is coming.

Beautiful sights on campus! Yellow is my favorite color so, naturally, when I saw that these trees had changed color over Thanksgiving weekend, I got really happy and excited! I couldn’t help but take pictures and frolic among the trees for a while. And then I noticed that there were paper snowflakes taped on the Hearst Mining building’s windows, so I went inside and snapped photos of them too. Hearst Mining is really beautiful and really decorated during the holiday season. There was a Christmas tree inside, and holly and tinsel were hanging on the rails and from the ceiling. Definitely try and step into Hearst Mining before the semester ends!
